Why we won't review a game we haven't played properly
We get asked why our reviews come out later than everyone else's. The honest answer is that we don't post until someone on the team has actually played the game the way you would — through the slow parts, past the tutorial, into the stuff that only shows up after a few hours.
A lot of mobile games are designed to look great in their first thirty minutes and then slowly reveal their problems: a difficulty wall, a repetitive late game, controls that only annoy you once things speed up. You can't catch any of that from a trailer.
It means we cover fewer games than a site chasing every release. We're fine with that trade. We'd rather tell you about six games we genuinely know than forty we glanced at.
When a game surprised us later — like Turbo Canyon Drift opening up after a weak first hour — that only happened because we kept playing. Those are often the games most worth writing about.
So if a big release isn't up yet, it's probably because we're still playing it. We'll have something to say once we've earned it.
